Town of Port McNeill Goals and Objectives 2009 - 2010

All municipal functions and priorities were discussed in the budget process. This report should be considered a “living document” that will be expanded and refined on an on going basis. 

Goal 1: Economic Development

Objectives:

Continue the encouragement of economic development in our resource industries.

Work with the Chamber of Commerce in the best interest of the community.

Goal 2: Harbour Improvements

Objectives:

Continue the harbour planning process in conjunction with the Harbour Commission.

Refine accounting system to gather more accurate information on harbour operations, including Parking.

Goal 3: Airport

Objectives:

Complete the transfer of lands and boundary extension to consolidate the airport parcel and maintain a strong relationship with our customers there.

Goal 4: Planning

Objectives:

Continue updating the mapping procedures for the Town.

Continue the review and update process for the Zoning Bylaw as needed.

Review and update the Town of Port McNeill Official Community Plan as needed.

 Goal 5: Public Works

Objectives:

Review buildings and grounds requirements and continue regular safety inspections.

Complete the water storage tank cell.

Initiate water and sewer infrastructure study grant applications to the Province when available.

 Goal 6: Recreation

Objectives:

 Continue pool and community building improvements.

Goal 7: Fire Department

Objectives:

 Maintain a strong working relationship with the Department, its Officers and Firemen.

 Goal 8: Administration

Objectives:

 Maintain a team approach to management.  Welcome input from all staff members.

 Remember the sign on our front door;  "Everyone who walks through this door is important.”
